2020 – our printing predictions for this year

It’s 2020 and with a brand new year comes new trends and new priorities. As companies respond to changing needs from their customers and their own markets, it’s more important than ever to keep an eye on what might be coming around the corner.

At Oxfordshire printers KMS Litho, we like to keep our ear to the ground so we can help the businesses we work with to negotiate the challenges and opportunities that a new year can deliver.

As such, we’ve put together our thoughts on how 2020 will impact printing and print marketing – and why we feel print will enjoy a surge in popularity with clients and customers alike.

A transition from digital to print

2019 was a challenging year for digital marketing. Complex GDPR regulations and greater public awareness of digital security risks, mean there is now increased scrutiny on how businesses use our personal data. If you’ve purged corporate emails from your inboxes and unsubscribed from newsletters and marketing emails, you’ve probably had concerns yourself.

In a world of digital scams and mistrust, print marketing can help businesses to re-connect with people in a way that’s personal, trustworthy and memorable: only 44% of people recall a brand directly after seeing a digital advert, compared to 75% after receiving direct mail. In fact Royal Mail itself found that more than 92% of direct mail is opened – compared to a reported 25% of emails.

A greater appreciation of beautiful printed things

Companies tend to have a laser-like focus on how they want their brand to look online. Branding initiatives take huge care over getting the right digital appearance. But as the digital environment becomes increasingly crowded, it gets harder to truly stand out.

And as trends grow among customers to ‘switch off’ and be more mindful, we think there’ll be a visible shift in the way that businesses get their messages seen. Print offers a way to reach out to your customers with stunning, creative and touchable pieces, featuring foiling, embossing and Pantone colours – that can drive tangible engagement with your brand and be a pleasure to receive.

A full package of print services

Streamlining processes is high on the priority list for businesses as they plan a more efficient 2020. For print marketing, this translates to reviewing how materials are developed, and identifying ways to make the process quicker, easier and more valuable. From design to packing for delivery, sending out print to customers can be time-consuming and costly – also taking staff away from other priorities.

Print fulfilment is the ideal solution. By outsourcing to a specialist like KMS Litho, you pay only for the services you need. We can take care of all the elements, from coming up with initial ideas to design, postage and packaging, including GDPR compliance and managing delivery providers.

A personal touch

2020 Print Predictions-KMS LithoWe think personal relationships with business partners will become more important as companies place more value in trust. When you work with KMS Litho, you’ll be introduced to your account manager who is on hand to advise on what’s best for you and your project throughout its lifespan.

And this personal touch extends to your customers too. We can offer tailored packaging, and integration with your customer databases, to make sure your customers in Oxfordshire and beyond feel like individuals – rather than just another recipient.

A reliable source of support

Businesses rarely have enough time to do comprehensive research into complicated printing processes before implementing a print project. In 2020, we think more businesses will become wiser to the fact that they don’t need to. From Pantone to metallic printing; litho to digital printing; KMS Litho can advise on what’s best for your business based on your needs, your budget and your brand.

We’re proud of the support we offer our clients – and our roster of repeat clients is a testament to this. But if you really would like to learn more about the colourful world of print, we’ve put together an ‘A to Z’ guide. You can order a free copy by emailing enquiries@kmslitho.co.uk.

A dedication to sustainable thinking

2020 Print Predictions-KMS LithoFrom Greta Thunberg to global conferences; the environment is high on the agenda. And businesses are becoming more conscious of their commitment to sustainability, both for reducing their carbon footprints, and for ensuring the resources they rely on are still available into the future.

KMS Litho is proud to play our part in sustainable printing. We are a partner of the Woodland Carbon Scheme, helping companies to reduce their carbon footprints through planting trees. We’re also FSC certified; and – depending on the types of paper you choose for your project – you can have the FSC logo printed on your materials too.

But what will stay the same in 2020?

We’re confident our predictions will play out in 2020. But whatever happens, KMS Litho will continue to be committed to providing high-quality services, and trusted expertise to our many satisfied customers.
